Colleen Delaney is the Director of Internal Communications, Publications and Operations in the News and Public Affairs Department at Massachusetts General Hospital, the third oldest general hospital in the United States and the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. In her role, Colleen develops and implements comprehensive communications plans that inspire, engage and inform the 26,000 employees at every level of the institution. These include disaster/crisis response, quality and safety initiatives, and institutional policy changes, milestones and advancements. Colleen created and oversees the hospital’s intranet and is editor of MGH Hotline, the hospital’s employee newsletter. She previously worked in communications at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, was a newspaper reporter/photographer in New Hampshire and on the Big Island of Hawaii, and served as managing editor for six community newspapers in Maine. Colleen loves covering all kinds of hospital events and happenings, but her favorite story remains the Mass General Blood Donor Appreciation Breakfast where she interviewed the employee honoree – and married him a year later.
