Since 2005, Annalisa Esposito-Bluhm has provided critical public relations support in a variety of business areas within General Motors including internal, design, product development, social media, finance, corporate and product communications.
In 2010, Bluhm took a short-term international assignment to establish GM’s social media communications in the company’s most important growth markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and South America, and her initial efforts helped shape what would eventually become GM’s Global Social Media Center of Expertise.
Throughout her career at GM, she has developed strategic communications plans for numerous activities, including launching the Chevrolet Spark, Cruze Spark EV and Bolt EV as well as GM’s Chapter 11 filing and IPO. While supporting the launch of the Chevrolet Cruze in 2015, Bluhm was simultaneously tasked with a joining an internal special assignment team to restructure and reinvigorate the GM communications function. Over eight months, she worked with senior GM communication leadership to re imagine the future of the communications function, including GM brand communications, staffing and allocation of talent. In December 2015, Bluhm became manager of Urban Mobility communications, a critical component of GM’s future in personal mobility, where she was tasked with integrated public relations, marketing and business strategy for GM’s new Maven brand. Her responsibilities include: brand building, raising consumer awareness, positioning GM as an innovative thought leader in the transportation space and creating a clear voice for GM executives. This role requires Bluhm to not only perform as a PR professional but also as a cultural anthropologist and futurist as GM learns more about consumer car-sharing behaviors and trends which will disrupt transportation, personal mobility and digital engagement.
Prior to joining GM, Bluhm directed Digital Media for a Michigan-based information technology firm, Dynamic Edge.
